World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. item upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.
For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using less upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using standard methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. The player is able to have up to five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-level version of the item will appear during the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know what will be improved following a reset.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process could be expensive, and there is a substantial possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if reinserted.
Glyphs

Each Glyph has a particular range of values it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in key locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For example an Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, however, you may also want to think about placing them near crucial damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The system of upgrading items allows players to improve the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components in them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is leveled up.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a new item of the same type. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a disadvantage in that the item could become more expensive even if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a totally different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can use up many resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as dolphins). This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is very valuable in PvP. A perfectly rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of a unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The item upgrader lets players increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor weapons, armor trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense, while upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear which can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each each time you upgrade an item, it is given the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to return to its original state, which requires the player to spend additional items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item fails to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any gained bonuses such as crit chance, attack damage, and all additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or speed of reload). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have the lowest cost for each upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. The player will need to carry every piece of gear they wish to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses mentioned above.
