Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of damage or more AD or even more attaches.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to the more modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They improve the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components in them with a professional or higher salvage kit.
The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the level of its upgrades. The damage absorption of an armor piece will increase when it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. But, it's important to note that this will also increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than before.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and each one has distinct effects. Certain upgrades grant armor an extra number of health points, while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item can receive, as shown below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require a fee to use, and are shown by a "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade.
The cheapest method of upgrading armor is with Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the environment and looting minor loot chests. Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain firearms also have enhancements that enhance their intrinsic capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain number of monsters or bosses, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

Jewels

The higher the grade of the gemstone is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the gem, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.
The Jeweler is able to create all tiers of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones, which require certain levels to gain. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped out by a different identical jewel without destroying the original one. However, you can only replace one jewel in a piece of equipment only once.
Using more jewels in a move can make it feel more comfortable and is usually used for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots won't cause harm as easily.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your shields and weapons. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be freely swapped, but they're not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis, are not swappable, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are pieces of equipment that bestow an array of small but useful advantages to your hero. item upgrade can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and by performing road interactions. This is true especially if you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It's best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
In the beginning of the game, junglers will usually want to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and middle players usually choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's map control abilities.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets in the form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, like completing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss.
